Training Week Sept 25-26, 2023

Monday, Sept 25 - Optional Training Night

We are excited to resume optional training! We are currently offering three optional training opportunities:

  1. Biathlon

  2. Band

  3. Drill Team

Effective speaking and other optional training opportunities will be announced at a later date.

BIATHLON

  • Time: 1900-2000, 1 hr practice

  • Where: LHQ - Sheperd Community Hall

  • What: . Biathlon is a sport that combines physical fitness with marksmanship skills through a combination of two activities. physical fitness and marksmanship using an air rifle.

  • Who: All interested cadets are invited to attend! A team of the top 12 cadets will be submitted as a team to compete regionally with other squadrons.

BAND

  • Time: 1900-2100, 2 hr practice

  • Where: LHQ - Sheperd Community Hall

  • Who: Current band members. A future announcement will be made to invite new cadets who play instruments to join.

DRILL TEAM

  • Time: 2000-2100, 1 hr practice

  • Where: LHQ - Sheperd Community Hall

  • Who: All interested cadets are invited to attend! We will be conducting drill team tryouts for a future competition.

TUESDAY, SEPT 26 - MANDATORY TRAINING

Regular training will resume on Sept 26. Parents are not permitted to stay at the LHQ unless you are a screened member of the SSC.

  • Time: 1815 - 2100 HRS

  • Dress: FTU - Field Training Uniform (New Cadets will get these soon, please be patient, do not email supply asking for them) Cadets with no uniform; nice clothing (example: white dress shirt, black pants)

Stack TEAM APP

Over the next few weeks, 83 Juno Beach will be migrating our communication channels to Stack Team App. This is a private portal for only parents and cadets in the squadron. This is where we will post ALL announcements and important updates. Please ensure both parents and cadets register to this app to receive all the latest updates. We will no longer be posting announcements on Instagram or Facebook to preserve the integrity and privacy of our activities.

Please be patient as we make our transition to this app.

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 19

Squadron parent & cadet information night.  We encourage ALL parents to attend (even returning). Questions will be answered, and expectations and direction for this cadet year will be gone over. Parents may stay the whole evening.  Period 1 and 2 will be the info night portion and period 3 will be a Q & A.
LHQ - 1815 - 2100 hrs

Optional Training: Monday evenings.  We will have more details for you on our Sept 19 information night.

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 26

We head into full gear with the training.
1815 - 2100 HRS

DRESS & DEPORTMENT REGULATIONS

RETURNING CADETS:   Annual Validations - A parent is required to attend with the cadet to verify, correct & complete the validation sheet, as well as fill out any detailed health questionnaire (DHQ), if applicable.  No paperwork will be sent home.   Please see Admin - CI Davis, at 1830 to complete paperwork on Tuesday Evenings.

IF YOU NEED UNIFORM PARTS.  CADETS ARE TO ENSURE THEY BRING ANY UNIFORM PARTS TO BE EXCHANGED WITH THEM.  PLEASE BE SURE THE PARTS ARE WASHED & CLEAN. PLEASE USE THE UNIFORM CONTACT FORM ON THE UNIFORM RESOURCES PAGE.

 NEW CADETSIf not already done so, please click the following link and fill out the registration form for your cadet. This will send you to the registration page for our Squadron. Make sure it says '83 Juno Beach Air Cadet Squadron' insert your email and fill out the form.  If there is a 2 parent/guardian household, please fill out BOTH, parent/guardian information. 

NEW CADETS - REGISTER HERE

 A valid Alberta Health card AND ONE of the following pieces of government issued identification must accompany every membership package:

  • A valid Canadian passport

  • A birth certificate

  • A valid resident card

  • A valid identification card issued by a Canadian provincial agency

  • A valid identification card issued by a Canadian federal agency

If you bring in a photocopy for us, please bring in the original documents so they can be verified as a “true copy”.

Battle of Britain

Battle of Britain - Mandatory Citizenship Event for all Level 2+

*UPDATE* Level 1 (New Cadets) are not required to participate. They may attend if they so choose.

83 Juno Beach Cadets are invited to participate in a Battle of Britain ceremony at The Military Museum on Sunday, September 17. This memorial service honours Canadians who fought in the historical Battle of Britain, the first major battle fought exclusively in the air. The event also commemorates all the heroes who served during the Second World War.

  • Parents & Guests are welcomed to stay for the ceremony

  • Cake and juice provided for cadets after ceremony

***IF A PARENT/GUARDIAN IS NOT STAYING FOR THE CEREMONY, PLEASE BE SURE YOUR CADET CAN CONTACT YOU FOR A RIDE HOME IN THE EVENT THE CEREMONY TIMES CHANGE.

Business formal for civilians & Cadets with NO Uniform

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 17
