21 SEPT 26 - Accelerated cadet training

This will be an opportunity for those cadets that joined the program after the age of 12 that will be accelerated up to their appropriate levels to gain the base knowledge of Drill, General cadet knowledge, marksmanship safety, aviation.

LOCATION: LHQ - Shepard Community Hall 10800 84 St SE
TIME: 1900-2100 (7-9 pm)
DRESS: Civilian Clothing
This is not mandatory but is highly encouraged as it will make the transition into the accelerated levels easier 
Don’t forget your filled waterbottle!

22 SEPT 26 - Regular Training Night

Dress: FTUs 
Cadets that do not have their uniforms should wear white top, black pants
Bring your filled water bottle!

1830-1845: Fall in, attendance, opening parade
18:50-1920 Period 1
1925-1955: Period 2
1955-2010: Break 
2015-2045: Period 3
2050-2015: Closing Parade, Parents/Guardians welcomed in the building for announcements
2115-2130 Cadets depart/Duty Clean Up

Dress: FTU (appropriate civilian clothing, running shoes etc)

PL 3+ Cdts - Field Training Exercise (FTX) Sign-up - 23-25 OCT 26

Any cadets who are NEW to the cadet program as of 1 SEPT 26, are not eligible for this Exercise.  We will be having a Spring FTX for you, as you will have more training and knowledge to successfully complete this Exercise.  Questions?  Email 83air@cadets.gc.ca

Location:  The FTX will be held at Al Azhar Shrine Centre 
Transportation: PDO/PPU (parental drop off / parental pick up)
Cadets will be sleeping in tents.  No hard shelters are available for sleeping

Uniform Night - 15 Sept 26

Cadets will learn how to properly take care of their uniforms.
All cadets are to arrive in civilian clothing and bring their uniforms on on hangers and clothing bag. If you do not have a clothing bag, use a garbage bag to cover your uniforms. Boots are preferred in a box or bag to avoid scuffing. 

Cadets who do not have uniforms yet, can wear civilian clothing.

✈️ WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This evening is for currently registered cadets and their parents/guardians only.

✓ This includes all cadets who are currently registered with 83 Juno Beach, including those who completed their registration as recently as last week.

If your cadet is currently registered with 83 Juno Beach, they should attend.

✈️ ATTENDANCE EXPECTATIONS

Cadets:
Attendance is mandatory. This evening forms part of the squadron's mandatory training, and all currently registered cadets are expected to attend for the full duration of the evening, from 1815–2100 hrs, unless they have submitted an absence.

Parents/Guardians:
Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend. Important information will be provided about the upcoming training year, cadet expectations, activities, opportunities, communication, and how the squadron operates.

While parent/guardian attendance is encouraged, the mandatory-training requirement applies to registered cadets.

✈️ IF YOUR CADET CANNOT ATTEND

Cadets are requested to report their own absence using the squadron's Absence Reporting Form:

Excused Absences Form - 2026-2027 yr

✓ Absences should be reported before 1900 hrs (7:00 PM) on the day of the activity.

✓ Cadets should complete the absence form themselves whenever possible. Parents/guardians may assist younger cadets if needed.

✓ Please report the absence as soon as you know the cadet will be unable to attend.

✈️ DRESS

Cadets with uniform:
✓ FTU (Field Training Uniform)

Cadets without a uniform:
✓ White shirt
✓ Black pants
✓ Preferably dark-coloured shoes — no dress shoes required

✈️ IMPORTANT REGISTRATION NOTE

Cadets who have not yet registered with 83 Juno Beach will be placed on the waitlist in the order that registration requests are received.

This does not apply to cadets/parents who have already contacted CI Melissa Davis by email regarding registration. Those inquiries have already been received and will be handled accordingly.

Hello 83 Juno Beach! We hope you had a great summer. We are getting ready for the new training year! Please review the details below for the upcoming Cadet Validation and Registration Night on September 1, 2026. This is an important administration night for all cadets. Parents/Guardians will also need to be present to sign documents.

Please note, a virtual senior's meeting for Sgts and Above will take place on Tuesday, August 25 at 1900 to help prep for the upcoming weeks. Please check the Google Calendar for the Microsoft Teams Link.

Cadet Validation and Registration Night

It's that exciting time of year again! Our first night back is Tuesday, September 1, 2026 — returning cadets will complete their Annual Validation, and new cadets will register for the year ahead.

What is Validation Night?
A dedicated evening to complete administrative tasks and sign mandatory forms. All cadets must complete forms with a parent/guardian present — no forms may be sent home.
Event Details
• Date: Tuesday, September 1, 2026
• Time: 1900–2045 hrs (drop-in)
o Senior Cadets (Sgt and above): Full evening attendance required, 1815–2115 hrs
• Location: LHQ, 10800 84 St SE, Calgary, AB T3S 0A5
• Dress: Civilian clothing (SGT and above are to wear FTUs)
You're not required to stay for the full evening — once your forms are complete, you're free to go. Please be prepared to wait your turn as we process each cadet; your patience is appreciated.

What to Complete (Parent/Guardian and Cadet Must Both Attend)

Returning Cadets:
• Annual validation forms — confirm all information is current and correct
• Sign the Code of Conduct
• Cadet photo
• Meet our SSC – Squadron Sponsoring Committee

New Cadets:
• Bring government-issued ID and Alberta Health Care card (originals only — no photocopies)
• Double-check your existing application, or complete a new cadet application
• Parent/guardian and cadet sign the Code of Conduct
• Cadet sign the uniform agreement
• Get measured for uniforms
• Cadet photo taken
• Meet our SSC – Squadron Sponsoring Committee

Uniforms

Returning cadets: If your cadet has uniform parts that no longer fit, please wash them and bring them along — we'll measure for new parts, to be distributed on a later date. No uniform exchanges or new issues will take place on September 1.

New cadets: You'll be measured for a uniform, which will be distributed on a later date.
Not Returning This Year?
If your cadet will not be returning to 83 this year, please email our Administration Officer at melissa.davis@cadets.gc.ca so we can update our records, and return washed uniform parts on September 1 in a labeled bag with your cadet's first and last name.
